Improvising

I started into more exercise this week. I have been jonsing to increase my heart rate by running outside or doing the eliptical, but I just haven't gotten around to it. One would think that I would have a lot of time not working, however baby has pretty much taken up most of it. That and laundry, dishes, planning dinner, and cleaning.

While I was on the floor playing with baby one day, I realized I could be doing push ups, plank, leg raises and entertain Didi all at the same time. So during her floor fun time, I improvised and did all of my little exercises right around her and she laughs at me. I would like to get a used bouncy chair for cheap to put in my workout room. That way I can do the eliptical and weights while she sits there and watches me. At this age, she is very good at entertaining herself, just by watching and listening to me.

I weighed myself this weekend, I am hovering around 206. I would love to get under 200, which is ultimately my yearly goal. I would like to get under 200 by summer though. I think if I increase my exercise and not my caloric intake, I can do it and not make my milk supply suffer. She is still getting the goods, since I'm not exactly under weight or anything, I have plenty of spare food sitting on my bod.

Plus I want the energy to keep up with her once she starts crawling and walking. That will be the true test! Exercise makes me feel good and energized, sometimes we all forget this on long days and we just want to sit in front of the TV on the couch. But I tell myself to at least go out for a walk, which always encourages me to want to do more, like a few push ups or crunches. After the pregnancy and the C- Section, I have a lot of core work to catch up on, especially if I want another kid.

One thing that is important to me is to be in better shape for my next pregnancy. I want to start out at a lower weight than I did this one and keep up on exercise because I truly believe that is what helped me recover from the surgery pretty quickly. I also want to possibly avoid getting gestational diabetes again, which I know is not always possible. We'll see though!

Share how you got back into shape or are planning to even if you didn't have a kid. I would love to hear some encouraging and motivating stories as we move deeper into spring and soon into summer!
