Reflection on Week 14 of 52

Sunday Weigh In: 208.8

In two weeks I have lost 3 pounds, surprising since I didn't go to the gym for more than a week. Ok, my plan for last week fell through the cracks. At the resort I did do yoga once and stretched a few times, plus we went for a few walks while there, nice and relaxing. This past Wednesday through Saturday I didn't go back to the gym. I had no motivation or maybe I was just enjoying not being in pain and aching all of the time. He he he. However, today, Sunday I did head to the gym and eased myself back into it. I did 15 minutes on the bike, 15 minutes on the eliptical, and 15 minutes running on the treadmill.

Unfortunately, my right knee is still killing me. This is starting to really irritate me, it makes my running workout harder because it feels like my knee is going to give and sometimes it doesn't and I panic and hit the pause button. My heart rate and lung capacity is great, I want to be able to push myself and go longer so this knee thing better shape up. I am going to do a bunch of research tonight, find some stretches, etc.

Sorry about the knee pain! One thing that may help is omega 3. I take fish oil 1000mg daily. I have an arthritic thumb that I am sure will be an all over thing someday, but when I take it regularlly I dont have any pain.

Do you have good health insurance? You may want to try seeing a physical therapist. Look for one that is attached to a gym. They can analyze your workout and see if there is something they can find that is going on. I always look at the feet with knee pain. Does your foot turn in? You may need an orthotic in you gym shoe. Look for a therapist that has at least a couple years experience.

I think my comment was eaten so this is take 2!

You can try omega 3 for you knee. I take fish oil for my arthritic thumb and it works great!

If you have great insurance you may want to try physical therapy. Try to find a clinic attached to a gym. They should be able to run yo through your workout and see if anything is wrong. I always look at feet with my young, knee pain patients. Many times your foot turns in when you walk or stand and can cause poor alignment of your knee. This is easily fixed with a custom orthotic. Just something to try!
