The Law of Intention and Desire

I frequent the Chopra Center website for daily inspirational quotes and research on Ayurveda and came across this yesterday. Everyday they have a daily law and yesterday was the Law of Intention and Desire. It goes through a little exercise to meditate on and also offers a quote. Yesterday's quote was:

"The distance isn't important; it is only the first step that is difficult" - Marquise de Deffand

This quote couldn't be closer to the truth. I want to take that first step in my health blog, and like I said over at my Swimming in this Sea of Life blog, it is difficult for me to list where I am at right now, what my action plan is, and where my head is in regards to my health because I am afraid if I put it all out there and fail, it will crush me. However, I have to put it all out there, because that is the only way to grow, track progress, and learn from mistakes. No one is a failure and it is childish of me to not have enough trust in myself and my strengths.

The Law of Intention and Desire really made me think. The website stated "Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment . . . intention and desire in the field of pure potentiality have infinite organizing power. And when we introduce an intention in the fertile ground of pure potentiality, we put this infinite organizing power to work for us."

The exercise:

1) make a list of all my desires, carry this list with me wherever I go. Look at it, meditate on it everyday.

2) When things don't go my way on my route of intention and desire, I will understand that there is a cosmic reason for this and the universe has a grand plan in effect.

3) Practice being in the moment and don't let obstacles consume me or 'dissipate the quality of my attention in the present moment' (Chopra). I will accept me for who I am in the moment and create my future through my intentions and desires list.

My first step:
My desire is to reach and maintain a healthy weight and mind / body balance by using tools such as Ayurveda, yoga, exercise, and meditation. I intend to create and live in a healthy lifestyle to one day have children of my own. I want to be a wonderful example to not only them, but to myself as well.
